Medanta launches prostate cancer awareness campaign ‘Socho Mat Baat Karo’

Initiative focuses on screening and dialogue on prostate health

Medanta – The Medicity has launched a prostate cancer awareness initiative titled ‘Socho Mat Baat Karo’ (SMBK). The campaign focuses on encouraging citizens to discuss prostate health, undergo screening and consult doctors.

As part of the initiative, Medanta introduced a kiosk featuring a one-minute prostate health test, screened an awareness video and held a panel discussion led by doctors on prostate cancer detection and care. The kiosk was inaugurated by Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta. Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO, Medanta; Dr Narmada Prasad Gupta, Professor Emeritus, Urology, Medanta; and Dr Gagan Gautam, Chairman, Urology and Uro-Oncology, Medanta, were present.

Sharing his perspective, Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta, said, “At Medanta, we believe that awareness and early action are as critical as clinical excellence. Through the ‘Socho Mat Baat Karo’ campaign, we are creating a safe, supportive platform for senior citizens to openly discuss prostate health, overcome hesitation, and take charge of their well-being. This initiative reflects our commitment to preventive healthcare, community engagement, and empowering individuals to make informed health choices.”

Prostate cancer affects men above the age of 55 and men aged 45 and above with a family history of cancer. The condition often remains undiagnosed due to gaps in awareness, reluctance to discuss symptoms and delays in screening.

Through the SMBK campaign, Medanta seeks to support discussion around prostate health, encourage consultation and support preventive healthcare practices among the elderly population. The initiative positions conversation as a step towards health management.

Doctors at Medanta stated that prostate cancer may progress without symptoms in its initial stages, which makes screening relevant for diagnosis and treatment planning. Developments in surgical approaches, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures, have influenced treatment pathways when diagnosis occurs earlier.

Commenting on detection and intervention, Dr Gagan Gautam, Chairman, Urology and Uro-Oncology at Medanta, said, “It’s important for men to recognize early signs such as difficulty in urination, blood in urine or semen, erectile dysfunction, or unexplained pain in the back, legs, or pelvis — and not ignore them. Fortunately, with advances in robotic technology, we can now detect and treat prostate cancer with high precision and minimal side effects, ensuring faster recovery and better outcomes.”

The campaign marks the second phase of Medanta’s ‘Jaanta Hai Medanta’ initiative, which focuses on cancer awareness and action.
