MMTC-PAMP & Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce collaborates with CovidAction Collab

The Trio have come together to donate child-friendly cardiac monitors to COVID centers in Sohna

MMTC-PAMP India in collaboration with Swiss Indian Chambers of Commerce & Covid Action Collab facilitated a handover of 24 cardiac monitors, called BPL MULTIPARA MONITOR- EV8, to a COVID-19 sub-centre in Sohna region of Gurugram, Haryana. The handover ceremony was held on August 2, Monday.

The handover of 24 cardiac monitors came after the need to mitigate the impact of the plausible third wave of COVID-19, especially on children who are expected to be the most affected. There is a need to strengthen the COVID-19 response to protect the children from the third wave.

It was attended by officials of the Gurgaon administration, including the Gurgaon’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Dy CMO, and members of the MMTC-PAMP and Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Virender Yadav, CMO of the Gurugram district said, “We have set up many Covid sub-centres in Sohna, Pataudi and Manesar and even in industrial areas. Such contributions from organisations will help us ensure proper monitoring of the patients in our area who require critical medical attention. They will also receive proper care at the first base itself.”

Gurugram district has around 89 government health facilities in total which include 11 Primary Health Centres, 04 Community Health Centres, 05 Civil Hospital and 01 Government Medical College and 68 Sub Health Centre. The overall population covered by all the health centres is close to around 24,00,000 people residing in Gurugram.

Lauding the efforts of the stakeholders involved, Shama Karkal, CEO, Swasti Health Catalyst said, “Tech-enabled medical resources are important considering the disruptive challenges faced by humankind during Covid-19 second wave. We need organizations to increase the mobilization of resources in association with government agencies. With this objective in mind, COVIDActionCollab has collaborated with MMTC-PAMP and the Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce to donate child-friendly cardiac monitors to prepare for the possible third wave of COVID-19. We hope this initiative will strengthen the healthcare system in the Sohna region.”
