Nanavati-Max Hospital lays foundation stone for expansion

The new additions will enhance the capacity of the hospital by over 600 beds. Post expansion, the hospital will have over 950 state-of-the-art patient beds. The new building is expected to be commissioned by 2024

Dr Balabhai Nanavati Hospital (Nanavati-Max Super Speciality Hospital), Mumbai has announced an expansion plan that would add over 600 beds to its existing capacity of 350 beds, by 2024. The foundation stone of the new building was laid on the premises of the hospital by Aaditya Thackeray, Cabinet Minister of Tourism and Environment, Government of Maharashtra.

The new additions will enhance the capacity of the hospital by over 600 beds. Post expansion, the hospital will have over 950 state-of-the-art patient beds. The new building is expected to be commissioned by 2024.

This expansion is at an investment of over Rs 700 crore and would create employment opportunities for over 5,000 doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers. Also, 20 per cent of the beds will be earmarked for patients from the economically weaker section of society to provide quality healthcare. This will make a 180 bed facility available on completion of the entire project for the economically weaker patients.

Addressing the gathering at the ceremony, Dr Abhay Soi, Chairman and MD, Max Healthcare said, “The expansion will help us serve residents of Mumbai as well as various parts of Maharashtra, better. It will house world class medical technology and will have several new clinical programs. Once completed, the new hospital building will help generate new avenues of employment to thousands of healthcare workers and staff. It will also serve the weaker sections of the society by providing free treatment to thousands of needy families every year.”
