Practo appoints former Health Secretary C.K. Mishra as Independent Director

Board appointment comes as the company expands its digital healthcare platform and presence in the US and UAE

Practo has announced that C. K. Mishra, former Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has joined its Board of Directors as an Independent Director.

Mishra is an Indian Administrative Service officer with 37 years of public service. He retired in 2020 after serving in roles across health, environment, education, industry and power. As Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, he oversaw national health programmes and multi-stakeholder systems within the public health ecosystem. Practo stated that his experience in building and governing infrastructure at scale will contribute to the company as it continues to expand its integrated healthcare platform.

Mishra joins a board that has also recently added TVG Krishnamurthy and Alexander Kuruvilla. According to the company, the expanded board reflects its focus on governance standards and platform operations as it develops technology-led healthcare infrastructure across markets.

Commenting on joining the board, Mishra said, “Healthcare systems today require transparency, structured information, and accountability at scale. Digital platforms that can organise complex healthcare data and enable informed decision-making have the potential to significantly improve access and outcomes. Practo has built a neutral, technology-driven ecosystem connecting patients, providers, and payors, and I believe such platforms can play an important role in strengthening healthcare delivery. I look forward to contributing to this journey.”

Shashank ND, Founder and CEO of Practo, said, “It is an honour for us that C.K. Mishra has chosen to join Practo’s Board and, notably, make this his first such association with a company in the healthcare space. His experience in building and governing large-scale systems will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our platform. At Practo, we see ourselves as building foundational healthcare infrastructure that enables transparency, neutrality, and informed choice. As an independent platform working across stakeholders, our responsibility is to ensure that verified information and measurable outcomes help patients make decisions without bias. In a sector where trust is paramount, neutrality becomes critical infrastructure, and his guidance will help us deepen that trust as we scale.”

The appointment comes as Practo expands its international presence in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. The company stated that it is also strengthening its leadership across technology and product functions as it expands its platform operations.
