Republic of Uganda commissions the Consulate General office in Mumbai

Madhusudhan Agrawal, Co- founder and Vice Chairman, Ajanta Pharma appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uganda

Madhusudhan Agrawal has been appointed the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uganda in Mumbai. With this appointment the Government of Uganda looks at enhancing trade ties and opening new investment avenues for Indian businesses and investors in Uganda.

Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, Prime Minister, Uganda is currently in India to facilitate this momentum and met with the investors. Commenting on this appointment, he said, “We are very delighted to have Agrawal as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uganda. As a leading healthcare provider, Agrawal has contributed immensely to the people of Uganda. I congratulate him on his appointment and look forward to strengthen our business ties with India.”

Agrawal, the Co- founder and Vice Chairman, Ajanta Pharma, has been able to achieve significant success in Uganda. Incorporated in India 43 years ago, Ajanta Pharma has been operating in Uganda since 1998 helping eradicate malaria by developing anti-malaria medicine among others.

Agrawal said, “I am really privileged to welcome the Prime Minister of Uganda during his visit to India. With this new responsibility, I aim to bring Uganda into one of the top considerations for Indians with respect to trade, investment and tourism. I will strive to attract investment in the areas of medical, agro processing, tourism, steel processing, plastic, solar industries and education services.”

Agrawal also intends to do philanthropic work in Uganda in the field of healthcare and education. With this appointment, Agrawal will support in marketing Uganda in Western India as well as explore more investment opportunities to Uganda from India. Agrawal’s appointment will be an asset to Uganda, not only as he is a reputable business man in Mumbai and Western India, but also possesses an understanding of the socio-economic environment in Uganda.
