India faces a shortage of physiotherapists, with only 0.6 physiotherapists per 10,000 people, far below the WHO-recommended 1 per 10,000. In a significant development aimed at addressing this gap, Resolve360, a pioneer in online active physiotherapy, is creating and patenting India’s first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) application for active physiotherapy.
The platform uses deep motion algorithms to create a virtual physiotherapist, which guides patients through personalized, therapeutic active exercises. This approach moves beyond traditional passive physiotherapy by addressing underlying conditions rather than just relieving symptoms. The AI Virtual Therapist from Resolve360 combines advanced technology with expertise in treating neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions. Unlike other AI systems that rely on devices or infrared markers, Resolve360’s platform uses standard video cameras found on everyday electronic devices.
The platform, which has recently been patented, is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be publicly released by mid-February. Its primary aim is to tackle the growing prevalence of lifestyle disorders, particularly those related to sedentary behaviour, by making expert-level active physiotherapy more widely accessible.
This technology is set to transform physical rehabilitation and pain management in India, shifting the focus from passive to active treatments. It will also significantly reduce costs, making active physiotherapy 75 per cent more affordable. Furthermore, the AI-AR system will increase patient treatment capacity by three times.
Dr. Apoorva Shrivastava, Founder and CEO of Resolve360, said, “Our AI-AR technology for active physiotherapy bridges India’s healthcare gap and revolutionizes treatment approaches. Unlike prevalent passive physiotherapy that temporarily snoozes the pain, our solution targets root causes, promoting long-term healing and patient empowerment at a fraction of the cost.”
The AR system’s scalability allows it to serve multiple patients simultaneously, increasing the reach of Resolve360’s services. This breakthrough AI-AR technology marks a significant advancement in India’s role in global healthcare innovation. As a Made in Bharat’ creation, the platform highlights India’s growing capability in combining cutting-edge technology with healthcare expertise.
With the public release planned for mid-February, Resolve360 aims to redefine physiotherapy standards in India, offering high-quality active care to all, with a shift from passive pain management to active healing and prevention at drastically reduced costs.
