A delegation from the Solomon Islands explored potential avenues for healthcare cooperation with Yashoda Medicity during a visit on Saturday, with discussions centred on specialised medical care, clinical knowledge exchange and access to advanced healthcare expertise.
The engagement brought the delegation together with Yashoda Medicity’s leadership and senior specialists across medical disciplines and included an overview of the hospital’s Centres of Excellence and technology-enabled care.
The collaboration proposal and discussions focused on potential areas for clinical cooperation and knowledge sharing. The delegation comprised H.E. Anthony Makabo, High Commissioner to India; Mr. Layten Jacob, Deputy Secretary Corporate, Ministry of Health and Medical Service; Dr. George Wilson Malefoasi, Chief Executive Officer, National Referral Hospital; Mr. Solomon Bosa, National Director, Medical Store; Mr. Wesley Kukutu, Manager, Medical Store; and Mr. Jones Taungani Soreh, Second Secretary.
The clinical engagement brought together a panel of specialists led by Dr Manish Singhal, Vice Chairman, Medical Oncology; Dr Gagan Saini, Vice Chairman & Head, Radiation Oncology; Dr P.K. Dewan, Vice Chairman and Head, Minimal Access, Robotic & Bariatric Surgery; Dr Minu Bajpai, Principal Director & Head, Pediatric Surgery & Pediatric Urology, Yashoda Cradle & Children’s Hospital; Dr J.B. Sharma, Principal Director & Head, Obstetrics and Gynecology; Dr Rajinder Kumar, Principal Director & Unit Head, Neurosurgery; Dr Rajesh Upadhyay, Principal Director & Head, Gastroenterology and Hepatology; Dr Amit Sharma, Principal Director, Orthopedics, Joint Replacement and Sports Medicine; Dr Satinder Kaur, Senior Director and Head, Gynaecologic Oncology & Robotic Surgery; Prof. Dr Vaibhav Saxena, Senior Director, Urology, Uro Oncology, Robotics & Renal Transplant; Dr Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Director, Respiratory Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology; Dr Karuna Jha, Senior Consultant, Hematology, Hemato Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant; and Dr Abhinav Singh Chauhan, Senior Consultant, Pediatric Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery.
The delegation also received an overview of Yashoda Medicity’s approach to managing complex cases through coordinated specialist care.

As part of the engagement, the delegation was taken through Yashoda Medicity’s clinical infrastructure and specialist care capabilities, with sessions covering medical oncology, gynaecologic oncology and robotic surgery, haematology and bone marrow transplant, radiation oncology, neurosurgery, urology and uro oncology, robotic surgery and renal transplant, minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, paediatric surgery and paediatric urology, and paediatric cardio thoracic and vascular surgery.

The discussions explored how such clinical expertise and institutional capabilities could potentially support healthcare requirements in the Solomon Islands.
