Expert critical care specialists facilitated the programme and more than 60 doctors received hands on training
Sterling Wockhardt Hospital in Vashi has conducted a session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) exclusively for dentists in association with Indian Dental Association, Navi Mumbai wing. More than 60 doctors received hands on training on this life-saving technique for medical emergencies that occurs inside hospital campus.
Speaking at the programme Dr Guadhar Padhi – Consultant, Critical care medicine of Sterling Wockhardt Hospital said, “Almost 95 per cent of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital. When a person has a cardiac arrest, within four to six minutes brain cells begin to die and in 10-16 minutes, he is completely brain dead. Chances of survival decrease by 10 per cent with every minute of delay. Sadly, only a small number of victims receive CPR as awareness levels are very low amongst public. Quick initiation of CPR by a lay person who witnesses this event of cardiac arrest will increase their chance of survival by 300 per cent.”
