SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CORE Diagnostics to advance precision oncology and develop healthcare talent. CORE Diagnostics operates in cancer diagnostics and genomic testing.
With cancer care moving towards personalised and precision-based treatment, expertise in genetic diagnostics and next-generation sequencing is becoming central to clinical practice. The partnership seeks to bridge classroom learning and oncology practice by providing students exposure to diagnostic technologies, genetic counselling frameworks and industry-led research.
Dr. S. Ponnusamy, Registrar, SRMIST, said, “At SRMIST, we are committed to providing our students with exposure to emerging domains that shape the future of healthcare. This partnership with CORE Diagnostics will enable our students to gain hands-on experience, benefit from industry expertise, and participate in cutting-edge research in genetic diagnostics and counseling, preparing them to become leaders in this critical field.”
Mr. Dinesh Chauhan, CEO, CORE Diagnostics, referred to the demand for talent in cancer diagnostics. CORE Diagnostics operates across 11 countries and handles nearly 1,000 oncology cases daily. He noted the need for professionals trained in the scientific and ethical aspects of genetic counselling and precision medicine.
The MoU is expected to enhance student engagement with genomic technologies and clinical applications. The collaboration will allow students to work with industry experts and participate in research initiatives focused on cancer diagnostics and patient outcomes.
As oncology treatment moves towards data-based and individualised care, the SRMIST and CORE Diagnostics collaboration marks a step towards strengthening healthcare training in precision medicine and cancer care.
