Asian Heart Institute (AHI) recently organised a special function on the occasion of Children’s Day. 17 children who were operated at the hospital for various life-threatening heart issues over the last few years had come to attend the special function arranged for them.

“It gives me great joy to see all these children so full of life and doing so well. Just a few years ago, they were struggling with serious heart ailments and without surgery they would not have reached adulthood. Today they are cured and are living a normal and healthy life. This would not have been possible without my team, donors and AHI paediatric trust which donates most of the money for such children’s free treatment, said Dr Ramakanta Panda, Chief Consultant for Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Asian Heart Institute.

Children between the ages of 5-10 participated in various fun activities including games, drawing, dancing and cake cutting.

“The theme for the drawing activity was ‘dreams in my heart’. We are hopeful that these kids are able to live their dreams and lead a healthy life,” said Dr Sarang Gaikwad, Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon, Asian Heart Institute.
