Motherhood Hospital, Kharadi, Pune recently initiated an awareness campaign among school children and asked them to take a pledge to keep their hands clean before every meal.

This message was spread to more than 40-50 students and taught them the importance of hand hygiene to avoid different types of infections.

Steps taught to be followed was: First wet your hands with clean running water, second to use soap and get in between your fingers, on wrist and in nails and third step is to rinse and dry the hands.

Anita Llyod Kelly, Nursing Head, Motherhood Hospital, Kharadi said, “At any time of the day, whenever the hands are dirty and when a person is performing any activity, they should always wash hands as this would keep them healthy and keep their hands germ free. Keeping hands clean is one of the most basic and important steps an individual can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.”
