Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Ahmedabad and Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Rajkot have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Health Department to provide free heart surgeries to patients across the state. The agreement was formalised on 11 July 2025 between Dr Ratankanvar H. Gadhavicharan, Commissioner of Health (Rural) and Mission Director, National Health Mission, and Manoj Bhimani, Managing Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital. The event was attended by Kanchan Bhai Patel and Dushyantbhai Patel.

Under this partnership, the hospitals will conduct heart surgeries at no cost for children and adults from Gujarat. In the initial phase, patients from six districts of Gujarat will be sent to Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital in Ahmedabad for treatment.

The hospitals, known for operating under the principle of “Dil Without Bill,” have been providing cost-free cardiac surgeries for over 25 years. Agreements for similar services have previously been signed with states including Odisha, Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand, and the Union Territory of Leh Ladakh. Gujarat is the ninth region to enter into such a partnership.

The Ahmedabad and Rajkot branches of the hospital have treated heart patients from across nine states, covering over 60 per cent of India’s population. All treatments have been provided without any charges.

Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital in Kashindra is equipped with 310 beds, four operation theatres, four ICU-ICCU units, and a Cath Lab. It focuses on paediatric cardiac care and performs surgeries for children regardless of religion, caste or gender. The Ahmedabad branch is recognised as India’s largest charitable hospital dedicated to paediatric heart diseases and regularly performs procedures that typically cost ₹3 to ₹5 lakh elsewhere.

The hospitals operate under the motto “Manav Seva Paramo Dharma.” According to hospital authorities, this service is sustained by the contributions and efforts of trustees, doctors, and staff, and continues to serve patients with the aim of increasing access to care for underserved communities.
