Rainbow Children’s Medicare (RCML), India’s pediatric multi-specialty and perinatal care hospital chain, announced the commencement of its 100-bed greenfield hospital in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. This marks RCML’s third hospital in the state, following Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

Strategically located between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, Rajahmundry serves the east and west Godavari districts. The city has a large population base, steady economic activity from agriculture, aqua, and allied sectors, and increasing urban development. The hospital is intended as a regional hub to address healthcare needs across East and West Godavari, covering an addressable population of nearly 10–12 million.

The hospital adds 100 beds to RCML’s network, offering pediatric and perinatal care, including 24×7 consultant-led emergency care, advanced NICU and PICU services, specialty pediatric clinics, high-risk obstetrics, fetal medicine, laparoscopic gynecology, and fertility services under ‘BirthRight by Rainbow’.

The Rajahmundry launch follows recent openings in Warangal and Guwahati, marking RCML’s third new hospital in FY26. With these expansions, RCML’s network now includes 22 hospitals and 5 clinics across 9 cities, with a total capacity of approximately 2,300 beds. The company continues to combine greenfield developments with selective acquisitions to expand its reach and diversify across healthcare markets.

Dr. Ramesh Kancharla, Chairman and Managing Director, Rainbow Children’s Medicare said, “The launch of our hospital in Rajahmundry is a significant step in Rainbow’s journey of enabling quality pediatric and perinatal care across Andhra Pradesh. This 100-bed facility is designed to serve the Godavari belt, one of the most prominent growth corridors in the state. With 22 hospitals and ~ 2,300 beds today, we are on a strong trajectory to expand into new cities and deepen our presence, while building long-term value for our stakeholders. At Rainbow, our commitment has always been to take advanced care closer to where it is needed the most, and this expansion reflects that promise. We will continue to build and invest with the same focus, creating a healthcare ecosystem that children and mothers across India can rely on.”

Rainbow Children’s Hospital operates a hub-and-spoke model, where the hub hospital provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care with tertiary and quaternary services, and the spokes offer primary, secondary, and emergency care in pediatrics and obstetrics, large outpatient services, and level 3 NICU services. The model is operational in Hyderabad and gaining traction in Bengaluru, with plans to replicate it in Chennai and across the National Capital Region, followed by tier-2 cities in Southern India.

The hospital chain operates on a full-time doctor engagement model, with doctors working on a retainer basis in teams providing 24/7 commitment, particularly for children’s emergency, neonatal, and pediatric intensive care services, as well as pediatric retrieval services. RCML also runs India’s largest pediatric DNB training programme in private healthcare, offering postgraduate residential DNB and fellowship programmes.
