Ottobock partners with Celcius logistics to build prosthetics warehouse and logistics distribution in India
The 3,000 sq. ft. facility features ambient storage, 110 slotted angle racks with over 700 bin locations, and a 100 sq. ft. temperature-controlled area for sensitive medical materials
Celcius Logistics, a domestic 3PL logistics player providing end-to-end cold-chain solutions, has partnered with Ottobock India, the Indian arm of Germany’s Ottobock, to set up a prosthetics warehouse and logistics distribution hub in India. The company has also launched a tech enabled warehouse facility in Thane.
The facility will support the medical supply chain by reducing turnaround times and enabling nationwide access to prosthetic and assistive devices. Celcius Logistics will leverage its network to manage the distribution of prosthetic limbs across India, enabling movement of products to clinics and partners in multiple regions.
The 3,000 sq. ft. facility features ambient storage, 110 slotted angle racks with over 700 bin locations, and a 100 sq. ft. temperature-controlled area for sensitive medical materials. Designed to support efficient inventory management and faster order fulfilment, the facility operates through processes aligned with standard quality and handling protocols. The facility is equipped to manage over 2,000 SKUs and support seamless distribution across 24 clinics and more than 200 independent partners, including associations with the Government of India.
Prosthetic manufacturing and distribution require controlled storage conditions to maintain product integrity, durability and performance. The inclusion of a dedicated temperature-controlled zone within the facility supports proper handling of sensitive components and ensures consistent quality, enabling reliable delivery of prosthetic solutions to patients.
Celcius will manage end-to-end warehouse operations and transportation, leveraging its in-house WMS(warehouse management solutions) and TMS(Transport management solutions) for inbound, outbound, inventory management, and nationwide distribution. The facility is exclusively dedicated to Ottobock and is now operational, under a five-year contract.
Commenting on the partnership, Swarup Bose, Founder and CEO, Celcius Logistics, said, “This partnership reflects how healthcare supply chains in India are evolving towards greater precision, reliability, and accountability. At Celcius, we are focused on building infrastructure that can consistently support the movement of high-value, sensitive medical products at scale. By combining our technology-led logistics capabilities with Ottobock’s global expertise, we are enabling a more robust and responsive distribution ecosystem.”
Mats Frank, Head of Cluster Asia-South and Managing Director, Ottobock India, added, “For us, supply chain reliability is directly linked to patient outcomes. As we continue to expand our presence in India, having a partner like Celcius strengthens our ability to deliver critical prosthetic solutions with consistency and speed. This alliance gives us a scalable, future-ready logistics backbone aligned with the standards we uphold globally. Particularly, the use of e-vehicles for delivery is one more step towards our commitment to the environment.”
Looking ahead, the partners plan to expand the warehouse capacity by 25 per cent within the next year, in line with growing demand and scale of operations. The collaboration reflects a shared vision to build robust, tech-enabled healthcare logistics infrastructure and improve access to critical medical devices across the country.
