The Healthy Indian Project (THIP) has announced a partnership with the Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility (ISSRF), which will serve as the Knowledge Partner for THIP Academy’s Evidence-Based Digital Patient Education Programme on Endometriosis.

According to THIP, the programme has been designed to improve disease awareness, patient engagement, health literacy and informed healthcare decision-making among women living with endometriosis.

The collaboration is part of THIP’s initiative to work with medical associations and healthcare experts to develop evidence-based and patient-focused educational programmes aimed at improving health literacy, strengthening disease awareness, promoting shared decision-making and contributing to patient outcomes.

Under the partnership, ISSRF will provide scientific guidance, academic oversight and clinical expertise for the programme. THIP Academy will be responsible for instructional design, patient engagement design, content production, digital learning experience, multilingual adaptation, educational outcome measurement and nationwide distribution through its online platform.

According to the organisations, ISSRF will ensure that the programme reflects current scientific evidence and clinical practices, while THIP Academy will convert this expertise into a digital learning programme designed to improve patient understanding, confidence and informed healthcare decision-making.

The programme has also been designed to improve patient knowledge, encourage timely healthcare seeking, strengthen patient confidence during consultations and measure educational outcomes through structured pre-course and post-course assessments.

According to THIP, endometriosis affects an estimated 190 million women globally, including more than 40 million in India. It stated that many women wait between six and 10 years for a diagnosis, often experiencing chronic pain, infertility and emotional distress while symptoms are considered “normal”.

To address this gap, THIP and ISSRF have developed a structured, evidence-based, self-paced Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for patients and caregivers. The course includes expert-led videos, assessments, downloadable resources and knowledge checks to provide medical information, support informed healthcare decisions and measure learning outcomes.

Speaking on the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Prof. N. K. Lohiya, President, Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility (ISSRF), said:

“Patient education is an integral part of quality healthcare. Women living with endometriosis often experience years of unnecessary suffering before receiving the right diagnosis. As the Knowledge Partner for this programme, ISSRF is pleased to contribute its scientific expertise towards creating an educational resource that is evidence-based, patient-centric and capable of empowering women across India with reliable health information.”

Sudipta Sengupta, Chief Executive Officer, The Healthy Indian Project, said:

“At THIP, we believe patient education should not only deliver scientifically accurate information but also improve measurable patient outcomes. That is why we collaborate with India’s leading medical associations as our Knowledge Partners. Their academic leadership, combined with THIP’s expertise in evidence-based patient education, digital learning and patient engagement, enables us to transform complex medical science into structured educational programmes that patients can easily understand and confidently act upon. Every programme is designed to improve disease awareness, strengthen health literacy, encourage timely healthcare seeking and measure learning outcomes through structured assessments. We are delighted to welcome ISSRF as our Knowledge Partner for Endometriosis and look forward to empowering millions of women to make informed healthcare decisions.”
