Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj hosts ISKSAA 2014

Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj kickstarted International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty (ISKSAA 2014), a three day symposium, from September 5-7, 2014 held at The Leela Ambience Hotel & Residences, Gurgaon. The 9th International symposium will focus on current concepts and advancements in knee, ankle, hip, elbow, shoulder surgery (keyhole), arthroplasty and joint replacement surgeries.

The symposium is expected to be attended by over 800 orthopaedic surgeons, residents and fellows. The event will reportedly also have an international faculty of over 40 surgeons from Australia, UK, US, Europe, Middle East, South East Asia and India. The programme will have instructional courses, hands-on surgical demonstrations, debates, symposia, product workshops and live surgeries.

A team of doctors from Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj comprising Dr Gurinder Bedi, Dr Dhananjay Gupta, Dr PS Gill, Dr Vishwadeep Sharma and Dr Ashish Taneja along with other surgeons will be performing around 30 surgeries over three days showcasing developments in keyhole and minimally invasive joint surgeries. Out of these 30 surgeries, more than 20 patients belong to economic weaker sections of the society. The surgeries will be telecasted live to train young surgeons in the new advancements along with live interaction with surgeons.

Talking about the event, Dr Gurinder Bedi, Senior Consultant- Department of Orthopaedics, Spine Surgery and Joint Replacement, Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj said, “As frontrunners in healthcare, we have been instrumental in showcasing the best treatment options available internationally and in elevating the healthcare delivery landscape in the country. This symposium will further push the frontiers of modern orthopaedic surgery.”

The event will also have a one day international CME on “Evaluation of Joint Pathologies” aiming to train the younger fellows and postgraduates on the appropriate way to approach evaluation of painful joint and modern surgical procedures.
