Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme launches at PMCH

Facilities including buying medicines from the market for patients will also be provided to the patients under this scheme

Bihar State Health minister Mangal Pandey recently said, “Under the central government scheme Ayushman Bharat around 1.80 crore poor families comprising around 5.85 crore people in Bihar would receive health insurance over upto INR 5 lakh.”

He further added that the scheme will bring a revolution in the health sector and benefit many.

The scheme was launched at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). The scheme was launched in seven medical colleges including PMCH, 24 sadar hospitals and a community health centre in Saran district.

Under the scheme, 11 beneficiaries got the insurance at PMCH. Some of them were Aruna Devi, Satish Kumar, Danti Devi, Ricky Kumar,etc.

“The benefits of this scheme will be provided in all government hospitals. Private hospitals on the other hand have been asked to include this scheme. The state government has appointed ‘Ayushman Mitr’ and they will work in all government and private hospitals ensuring that the beneficiaries receive all the benefits like admitting the patient, discharging the patient, etc. The ministry of health on the basis of economic and social census has selected these beneficiaries,” Pandey said.

PMCH medical superintendent Dr Rajiv Prasad further said, “Facilities including buying medicines from the market for patients will also be provided to the patients under this scheme.”
