On the occasion of Children’s Day, an MOU was signed between Cloudine Hospitals and Masimo

Cloudnine Hospitals and Masimo announced the launch of universal congenital heart disease screening using Masimo SET technology in all the hospitals of the Cloudnine Group.

Pulse oximetry screening (POS) allows reportedly early diagnosis of critical congenital heart disease (CCHD). While it is not a common in India, Cloudnine Hospitals is making it mandatory in their chain of hospitals.

The adoption of Masimo’s superior SET technology across the Cloudnine Hospitals will enhance our existing protocols to provide superior screening for congenital heart disease and ensure that every baby born here now has the opportunity to live a healthy life. Universal CCHD screening must be made mandatory for every child born in India,” said Dr Kishore Kumar, Chairman and Senior Neonatologist, Cloudnine Hospital.

In a study of newborns, researchers have found CCHD was detected 63 per cent of the time by standard screening and 83 per cent of the time when screening with Masimo SET was added. Over 100 million patients are monitored with Masimo SET pulse oximeters around the world and in more than 100 comparative studies Masimo SET outperformed other technologies. Researchers have found that Masimo SET in combination with changes in clinical practice led to an increase of 31 per cent in the detection of newborns with CCHD when used as a part of the CCHD screening protocol.

Early detection is key in this fragile patient population. It’s exciting to see the adoption of CCHD screening in India. When we developed SET, we didn’t realise how many wonderful new applications our Measure- Through Motion and Low Perfusion technology would make possible – so it’s especially gratifying that we can help clinicians around the world save the lives of so many babies,” said Joe Kiani, Founder and CEO, Masimo.

Cloudnine hospitals are also the first in the country to make a formal patient safety commitment to the World Patient Safety Movement Foundation. This non-profit organisation is dedicated to eradicating preventable patient deaths in hospitals around the world. With this step, Cloudnine joins an elite group of over 1200 hospitals worldwide that have made public commitments to implementing Actionable Patient Safety Solutions in their respective organisations.

Cloudnine and Masimo jointly organised an event in Cloudnine’s Jayanagar branch to sign this agreement. Dr Kumar and Jon Coleman, worldwide president, Masimo Corporation were present to sign the MOU.
