Panel discussion was held to discuss ‘Violence against Doctors’

During the three-day National Congress organised in Hyderabad, FIGO-FOGSI 2018 society organised DHEERA, a WALK to bring awareness about violence against women, The social campaign walk – STOP Violence against Woman’ DHEERA was followed by a panel discussion on ‘Violence against Doctors’ in the evening.

The walk had several participants and it was flagged off by actress Malavika Nair, who was also the chief guest. It began from HICC for about 2 kms with people carrying placard and banners highlighting the issue’ Stop violence against woman’.

Dr S Shantha Kumari, Chairperson, ICOG and adovacte of Violence Against Women (VAW) launched this initiative titled DHEERA in 2016, “Say No to Violence Against Women” at National Conference held in August 2016 at Hyderabad India.

Dr Jaideep Malhotra, President, FOGSI said, “As obstetricians and gynaecologists, we are in a unique position to assess and provide support for women who experience violence because of the nature of the patient–physician relationship. We also understand that men are important partners (Men as partners) in preventing violence against women (VAW) and hence there is a need for an integrative approach to tackle this concern. This vital issue also need constant support from both the central and state governments and most importantly the law enforcement agencies.

The three-day conference attracted over 600 participants. For the first time the national congress also featured a quiz.

FOGSI-ICOG National Congress on Principles Protocols and Practices 2018 brings to the forefront the latest principles, an update on protocols and bridging gaps in practices in obstetrics and gynaecology robust protocols.
