Frontier Lifeline Hospital organises a CME programme
It was conducted to enrich knowledge of general physicians and cardiologists on HCM genomics
Frontier Lifeline Hospital, Dr KM Cherian Heart Foundation organised a CME programme on Genomics of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. The event was preceded by an open house. Public and nursing college students were invited to view the pathology specimens of the normal heart and different type of Cardiomyopathy were exhibited from the Medivelle Science park. In addition to this, Heart lung machine was also displayed, to increase the awareness about the Cardiomyopathy (especially Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dhavendra Kumar, University of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom, delivered a guest lecture on the Genomics of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, to enrich the knowledge and understanding of the general physicians and cardiologists of HCM genomics and how it can applied in clinical practice for treating patients and also provide screening for family members.
Leading the CME programme, Dr Rajaram Anantharaman the head for Cardiac Risk in Young (C. R. Y) clinic and the Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Frontier Lifeline Hospital, announced that screening camps will be organised, once a month in the community and colleges. The C. R. Y clinic functioning at Frontier Lifeline Hospital will continue the treatment for the affected patients with HCM and screening for family members along with genetic counseling will be conducted.
