Gleneagles Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, has received the World Stroke Organization (WSO) and National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) Advanced Stroke Centre Certification. With this, it becomes the only hospital in Mumbai to hold the joint certification.

The certification was granted following an inspection process that assessed infrastructure, clinical protocols, emergency response systems, and stroke patient outcomes. The recognition places Gleneagles Hospital as the only hospital in Mumbai to receive WSO–NABH recognition under the Advanced Stroke Centre category.

The hospital’s stroke programme is led by a multidisciplinary team that includes Dr Shirish Hastak, Dr Nitin Dange and Dr Pankaj Agarwal, along with interventional experts and critical care physicians. The team works in coordination from diagnosis to rehabilitation. The programme monitors Door-to-Needle Time (DTNT) and Door-to-Groin Time (DTGT), which are used as measures in stroke recovery outcomes.

Gleneagles Hospital has a Neuro Critical Care Unit for patients with neurological conditions, including acute stroke. The hospital follows international benchmarks for thrombolysis within the defined window of 4.5 hours.

The hospital is the first in Mumbai to be certified under the NABH Certification Programme for Advanced Stroke Centre. The certification covers neurology and neurosurgery services, technology use, stroke protocols, and round-the-clock multidisciplinary care.

In addition to NABH certification, the hospital has also been recognised by the World Stroke Organization (WSO)/Angels Awards Committee. This recognition is based on stroke data reporting, treatment processes, and patient outcomes.

Gleneagles Hospital has received the WSO–NABH Advanced Stroke Centre Certificate, which is awarded for maintaining stroke care standards across multiple evaluation cycles.

Dr Bipin Chevale, CEO – Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai, said, “Receiving both NABH and WSO recognition is a validation of our systems, teamwork, and clinical discipline. We continuously analyse our stroke data to identify gaps and improve response times. This approach helps us deliver consistent outcomes, even in complex and high-risk stroke cases. This certification is a proud moment for all of us. Being the only hospital in Mumbai to receive WSO – NABH Advanced Stroke Centre recognition highlights our commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and global quality standards. As stroke cases continue to rise, we remain focused on strengthening emergency response systems and delivering timely, coordinated, and compassionate care.”
