Ties up with IL&FS to launch new skill development initiative in healthcare sector
HLL Group has launched a not-for-profit-organisation named HLL Management Academy (HMA). A Society, registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955, HMA will reportedly undertake new skill development courses this month by partnering with infrastructure and financial service firm IL&FS.
Adoor Prakash, Minister for Revenue and Coir, Government of Kerala, inaugurated the new office for HMA at Keston Road Kowdiar. “The country is facing an acute shortage of trained manpower to service specific healthcare segment – be it in the area of manufacturing, operating and maintenance or procurement. It is highly laudable that HLL has come forward to fill this huge gap between advanced medical field and its application among common public. HLL has been doing great services to the community in the area of healthcare management and services,” the Minister said.
“Given the excellent track record of HLL in the field and the resource pool that the company has developed, I am sure that HLL Management Academy will be able to produce trained professionals capable of managing variety of issues in healthcare delivery thereby increasing the quality of healthcare in the country,” he added.
“The aim of HLL Academy is to become a center of excellence in providing learning, research, training and consultancy in specialised areas in the healthcare sector. One of the important objectives of HLL Academy is to build capacities and create skilled workforce in healthcare industry especially in social marketing & franchising, procurement management, clinical engineering, social entrepreneurship and allied health sciences,” said Dr M Ayyappan, Chairman and MD, HLL.
Currently, the academic division of HLL is conducting several management courses, including Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Engineering and Management (PGDCEM) and Advanced Diploma in Clinical Engineering and Management.
The Academy will also conduct an International Training Programme on Public Procurement and Contract Management in Healthcare Sector in association with World Bank and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The programme, the third in the series, will be held in October this year in Thiruvananthapuram.
Some of its broad objectives include establishing institutions for skill development, improving employability of the youth and organising personalised programmes for character building in children.
