KIMS Hospitals launches Thane’s AI-integrated 5G smart ambulance for real-time emergency response
In partnership with Medulance, the new system marks the hospital's latest advancement in emergency medical services
KIMS Hospitals, Thane, has launched the Thane region’s first AI-integrated 5G Smart Ambulance in partnership with Medulance. The new system marks the hospital’s latest advancement in emergency medical services, combining artificial intelligence with real-time 5G connectivity to improve pre-hospital patient management.
The smart ambulance was unveiled during a live demonstration at the hospital, where it showcased its capacity to transmit live patient vitals—including ECG, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation—to emergency doctors while the patient is en route to the hospital. The system uses AI to interpret this data in real time, allowing emergency physicians to begin assessing the patient’s condition and initiate clinical protocols remotely.
Dr. Ankit Biyani, Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at KIMS Hospitals, said: “The golden hour can mean the difference between life and death in cases of trauma, cardiac arrest, or stroke. With our AI-integrated 5G Smart Ambulance, clinical decisions can begin before the patient reaches the hospital—redefining what timely intervention looks like in emergency care.”
According to Saurabh Gupta, Regional Chief Operating Officer at KIMS Hospitals, the initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing emergency care delivery in Maharashtra: “This launch is more than a technological milestone—it reflects our deep commitment to patient-first innovation. By merging 5G connectivity with AI capabilities, we aim to significantly reduce emergency response times and save more lives through unparalleled medical excellence for the people of Thane and Maharashtra.”
Dr. Amit Raodeo, Chief of Critical Care at KIMS Hospitals, underlined the significance of such technology for critical cases: “With emergencies, every second matters. The AI-driven smart ambulance gives us a clear clinical window even before the patient reaches us, which can be the difference between recovery and long-term damage.”
The demonstration included real-time telemetry and AI analytics functioning over a low-latency 5G network. The technology enables two-way communication between hospital emergency staff and ambulance personnel, allowing preparation of emergency resources in advance.
With this launch, KIMS Hospitals has become the first in the Thane region to deploy an AI-integrated 5G ambulance system. The partnership with Medulance combines clinical readiness with digital infrastructure, establishing a new standard for emergency healthcare delivery in Maharashtra and beyond.
