Apollo Hospitals hosted Louise Araneta-Marcos, the First Lady of the Philippines, during her visit to New Delhi. The First Lady met with children from the Philippines who have undergone or are awaiting liver transplants at the hospital, along with their families and treating clinicians. The visit included a brief presentation on Apollo’s liver transplant programme, followed by a personal interaction with patients and their caregivers, many of whom have travelled from across the Philippines for treatment in India.

The visit underscored the increasing number of families from the Philippines seeking specialised paediatric liver transplants in India. Apollo Hospitals has treated 179 paediatric patients from the Philippines to date, including 83 girls and 96 boys. Families from the Philippines shared their experiences of placing their trust in Apollo Hospitals during one of the most critical periods of their lives. During the interaction, Araneta-Marcos congratulated Dr Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals, and the liver transplant team for their life-saving work and long-standing commitment to compassionate paediatric care. She also personally encouraged and applauded the children for their courage and recovery journeys.

The visit concluded with a group photograph and the presentation of a commemorative memento to Her Excellency by the Apollo leadership, as a gesture of appreciation for her presence and support. The interaction not only reinforced the importance of cross-border medical collaboration but also served as a moment of encouragement and solidarity for the families and children undergoing critical care far from home.
