Wockhardt Foundation undertakes community education activities on World Health Day

Educates 1500 people from five slums in Mumbai on‘Clean and Healthy living’ through its Khel Khel Mein pragramme, educates 28500 people across India on ‘food safety and hygiene’ through its flagship Mobile1000 programme in a week long activity

On the occasion of World Health Day, Wockhardt Foundation, a not-for-profit organization working towards social service and human welfare, connected with and educated over 30000 people with messages of ‘Food Safety and Hygiene’ and ‘Clean and healthy Living’.

52 vans from the foundation’s flagship Mobile1000 programme, reached out to over 28500 people in rural parts of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Harynana, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, educating them on food safety. The 5 keys of food safety as listed down by the World Health Organisation – (keep clean, separate raw and cooked food, cook food thoroughly, keep food at safe temperatures, use safe water and raw materials) were passed on to these slum dwellers via interesting and colourful posters in local languages. Doctors and staff in each of the Mobile1000 vans interacted with the public on a one to one basis.

In Mumbai, over 250 children from the Khel Khel Mein programme met and spoke to 1500 slum dwellers from Geetanagar in Colaba, Vasi Naka in Chembur, Antophill in Wadala, and Deonar Village in Mankhurd, educating them on the need for clean and healthy environment. They also emphasised on the importance of safe and clean food for a healthy living. The underlying objective was to drive the message of ‘Clean India, Healthy India’ through this initiative.

Mobile 1000: This is an ISO 9001:2008 approved and the flagship programme of Wockhardt Foundation that provides free primary healthcare to villages of India through mobile medical vans. The total number of patients administered free primary healthcare till date is 13.6 million.

Khel-Khel Mein: This initiative inculcates values and good habits in under privileged children through qualified and trained teachers. Khel Khel Mein today operates 26 Edu Recreational Centre and toy library for the underprivileged children in slums of Mumbai (16 toy libraries), Delhi NCR (8 toy libraries) and Aurangabad (two toy libraries).
