Hyderabad is set to host IRIA 2026, the 78th Annual National Conference of the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA), one of the largest and most prestigious gatherings of radiologists in India. Hosted by the Telangana State Chapter, the conference will be held from 29 January to 1 February 2026 at the International Convention Centre, HITEX, Hyderabad.

The four-day conference is expected to witness the participation of around 4,500–5,000 delegates from across the country and several nations worldwide. IRIA is a premier body for radiology and imaging professionals and one of the largest medical associations in India, with a membership base of over 27,000 radiologists.

Theme: Empowering radiology through technology and innovation

Inspired by Alfred P. Sloan’s belief that progress is driven by intelligent innovation aligned with human purpose, the theme for IRIA 2026 — “Empowering Radiology through Technology and Innovation” — reflects radiology’s transformative journey in the digital age. As technology and artificial intelligence redefine diagnostic precision, workflow efficiency, and patient-centred care, radiology stands empowered to lead healthcare into a future of greater accuracy, accessibility, and impact.

Key highlights of IRIA 2026

IRIA 2026 will feature a comprehensive and high-impact scientific programme, including:

Spotlight on innovation, education and skill development

IRIA 2026 will strongly emphasise continuous medical education (CME), skill-building workshops, and cross-learning opportunities with global experts. IRIA’s core focus remains on CME, resident training, and research programmes.

During the conference, around 1,245 e-posters and 821 scientific papers, primarily by residents, will be presented. Eight sub-specialty workshops, quizzes, and film-reading sessions are being planned to enhance practical learning and academic engagement.

Global participation and academic excellence

The IRIA Annual Conference has long served as the premier platform for Indian radiologists to exchange scientific and professional experiences, discuss recent advances, and learn about state-of-the-art radiology technologies.

IRIA 2026 will host 130 international faculty members from 30 countries and around 400 national faculty, offering an excellent scientific and educational programme covering Diagnostic Imaging, Interventional Radiology, and Molecular Imaging.

Industry and technology exhibition

The conference will feature participation from around 70 healthcare industry companies related to radiology and imaging. These companies will showcase the latest technologies, advanced equipment, and innovative digital solutions shaping the future of radiology practice.

IRIA’s legacy, mission and ethical commitment

The Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA) stands as a proud legacy institution dedicated to advancing the science and practice of radiology in India. Since its inception, IRIA has nurtured generations of radiologists, strengthened academic and clinical frameworks, and upheld the dignity of the profession.

Its mission is to promote the highest standards of radiology education and practice, encourage research and innovation, and ensure ethical conduct and professional integrity. Through annual conferences, workshops, and CME programmes, IRIA has consistently provided platforms for knowledge sharing and skill development, while its journals and guidelines have set benchmarks for academic excellence and clinical quality.

IRIA has also taken significant initiatives in structured training programmes, sub-specialty workshops, and mentorship for young radiologists, ensuring the profession remains future-ready. By advocating uniform quality standards, accreditation, and peer-review mechanisms, IRIA safeguards safety and consistency in radiological practice. The ethics session, a key component of IRIA 2026, reinforces the importance of balancing technological advancement with humane medical practice and professional responsibility.
