AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad released the COVID-19 Protocol and Guidelines book as a ready-reckoner for the practicing physicians. The book was released by Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India at his residence in Hyderabad.

At a time when the country is still reeling under the COVID-19 pandemic, this book is a comprehensive guide intended for the medical fraternity for bringing in evidence-based medicine for management of COVID-19.

India diagnosed its first patient with COVID on Jan 30, 2020. Ever since, the entire medical fraternity has been working diligently for the last 585 days and it is high time that an evolved, standardised protocol for managing this deadly pandemic is published.

Speaking at the launch event, Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman, AIG Hospitals said, “The AIG COVID-19 Protocol Book is an earnest attempt from our side to put forward the science and experience from our tertiary care center into a form that is easily consumable by physicians across the country so that ultimately more and more patients can be benefitted. The AIG COVID-19 Algorithm is the result of relentless hours spent by more than 25 of our clinicians while treating over than 25,000 COVID-19 patients both in Outpatient and Inpatient setting. We will be distributing 1 Lac copies of this book free of cost of doctors across India. It is our humble endeavor in making sure that patients across India receive standardized and scientific care which will not only reduce Covid related deaths but also reduce pressure off the healthcare system”.

Also speaking on the event, Dr GV Rao, Director, AIG Hospitals said, “India has always leaned on the Western countries to learn the best practices in Healthcare. However, the pandemic has shown us that we simply cannot copy-paste the protocols as the virus has behaved differently in the subcontinent. Hence, it is vital for India to develop its own protocols and that’s why at AIG Hospitals, our group of highly experienced and accomplished clinicians got together to develop this Covid protocol. We will keep updating this as we learn more and more about this disease and its variants.”
