BJP’s 2024 manifesto promises expanded healthcare initiatives, focus on senior citizens and transgender community

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its manifesto for the 2024 elections, showcasing a robust plan for healthcare improvements with a special focus on senior citizens and the transgender community. The manifesto outlines several key initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality across India.

One of the major highlights of the manifesto is the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat scheme to include senior citizens, ensuring that they have access to free and quality healthcare services. Additionally, the BJP pledges to extend the Ayushman Bharat Yojana to cover all eligible transgender individuals, emphasising inclusivity in healthcare coverage.

In a move towards preventive healthcare, the manifesto promises a focused initiative to eliminate cervical cancer, underscoring the party’s commitment to women’s health and well-being. The BJP also plans to organise regular Ayush camps to promote holistic healthcare solutions rooted in Ayurveda, Yoga, and other traditional practices, particularly benefiting elders.

Furthermore, the manifesto addresses the healthcare needs of tribal communities by pledging to work towards eliminating malnutrition among tribal children and providing comprehensive healthcare services in tribal areas, including efforts to eradicate sickle cell anemia.

The Jan Aushadhi Kendra network will also be expanded to provide high-quality, low-cost medicines to citizens nationwide.

Intensifying efforts to eliminate diseases like TB, Leprosy, Measles and Rubella, and others through timely testing and access to medicines.

Accelerating vaccine production and distribution by supporting Bharatiya vaccine manufacturers and biopharma companies.

The manifesto also emphasises improving mental healthcare services, strengthening health human resources, and elevating India’s global standing in healthcare through initiatives like Yoga and Ayurveda institutes internationally.
