Glanbia launches FITINDIA campaign

The programme aims to drive positive behavioural change towards nutrition and healthy lifestyle across the country through colleges, government services and sports academies

Glanbia’s #FitIndia, a nationwide nutrition and healthy lifestyle campaign, was recently inaugurated in New Delhi by Union Health Minister, JP Nadda. Present on the occasion were Sam Bedi, Regional Director, Glanbia Performance Nutrition (GPN), Dr Chirag Sethi, Physiotherapist, Founder/ MD, Classic Fitness Academy, Dr Ashish Jain – HOD Orthopaedics, Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, Milind Soman, Actor, Director, Fitness Enthusiast and Seema Chandra – Food Editor, NDTV.

The programme aims to raise awareness and education of good nutrition and active lifestyles. The campaign will entail collaboration between a cluster of professionals such as dieticians, nutritionists, educators and key opinion leaders and will travel across 12 cities while working together with change makers at various levels and organisations. Through a joint approach with the Ministry Of Health, the outreach shall be based on insights into health and nutrition and an education led roadmap leading to dissemination of information and recommendations for a healthy living. The immediate beneficiaries includes, colleges, government services, sports academics as well as the general public to create awareness around the importance of nutrition,healthy diet and ways to reduce the risk of lifestyle disorders.

Nadda said, “I’m delighted that corporate sector is coming ahead to help under CSR activity. I congratulate Glanbia for FitIndia campaign. My ministry will provide full support in eradicating non communicable and lifestyle diseases from India. I recommend we should practice yoga and maintain a balanced diet for a healthy lifestyle to ensure fitter India.”

The event was followed by a panel discussion where the industry leaders and key opinion makers brain stormed and discussed the importance of nutrition and the role it plays to develop a fit nation. The panelists debated the need for good nutrition, and discussed some of the key issues facing Indian society.
