Manipal Hospital Kanakapura Road launches Paediatric Super Specialty Centre

Manipal Hospital Kanakapura Road has launched a Paediatrics Centre offering Super Specialty Services, bringing together more than a dozen paediatric medical disciplines under one roof to provide comprehensive care for newborns, children and adolescents.

The new centre brings together specialists across the spectrum of child healthcare—from General Paediatrics and 24/7 Paediatric Emergency Services to Paediatric Cardiology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology and Haemato-Oncology. The centre also offers Paediatric Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Urology, ENT, Interventional Radiology and Medical Genetics, creating a comprehensive specialist care ecosystem for newborns, children and adolescents.

The launch event was attended by Dr. Narendra Babu, Senior Paediatric Surgeon and Director, Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health; Dr. A. Nagesh, Senior Paediatrician, Kidcare Clinic, Banashankari; and Dr. S. G. Kasi, Senior Paediatrician, Kasi Clinic, alongside Dr. Chetan Ginigeri, Director – Paediatrics and Paediatric Super-Speciality Services, Manipal Hospital Kanakapura Road.

For families, the centre brings together care that would otherwise require consultations across multiple specialties and locations. General Paediatrics will address routine healthcare needs such as check-ups, vaccinations, growth monitoring and nutrition advice, while specialist teams will manage more complex and ongoing conditions.

Children with heart conditions can access Paediatric Cardiology and CTVS expertise, while Paediatric Pulmonology caters to breathing difficulties and asthma. Paediatric Endocrinology provides care for diabetes, thyroid and growth-related concerns. Specialist services in Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Rheumatology and Haemato-Oncology support children requiring ongoing management of digestive, kidney, autoimmune and blood-related conditions.

The centre also brings together Paediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery for seizures, headaches and neurological disorders, alongside Paediatric Orthopaedics, Surgery, Urology and ENT for fractures, birth-related conditions and surgical needs. For rarer and more complex conditions, Paediatric Interventional Radiology and Medical Genetics extend specialist care, including genetic counselling for expecting parents.

Critical and neonatal care form an important part of the centre’s offering. The hospital’s advanced Level 3B Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) are equipped to care for extremely premature and high-risk babies and critically ill children. The availability of these services locally can help avoid long-distance transfers for some of the most vulnerable patients, when timely access to specialised care is particularly important.

The centre also includes Paediatric Child Life Services, offering counselling and behavioural support for children navigating anxiety, learning difficulties, ADHD or autism, as well as guidance for parents.
