Walk with a Doc has created five walk communities in Mumbai taking nearly 1,20,000 steps together in one walk

Global Hospitals, Mumbai, a multi super specialty tertiary care hospital recently conducted Walkathon. A well renowned Nephrologist, Dr Bharat Shah, commenced and flagged off the prestigious challenge with due participation of his patients from all age groups to promote Organ donation and spreading awareness on its significance.

Dr Bharat Shah, Director – Renal Sciences, Global Hospitals, Mumbai, said, “The intention of starting of this walkathon was to create a buzz about health, fitness and the importance of organ donation. There is something about walking that makes it addictive and commands attention; we would focus on maintaining this consistency and to take up inspiration for some regular physical activity.”

Rajashree Menon, India Representative – Walk with a Doc, commented, “The need for this initiative in India which is home to a large number of people with hypertension, diabetes and several other lifestyle related disorders. We are thrilled with the doctor’s enthusiastic responses to Walk with a Doc programme, leading walk chapters One Sunday morning every month. We have created five walk communities in Mumbai in a short time, taking nearly 1,20,000 steps together in one walk; 12,00,000 (12 lac) steps till now.”
