The three-day event had eight sessions, with the theme ‘Up-Skilling of Orthopaedicians for Enhancement of Competencies’

Institute of Health Management and Research, Bangalore (IIHMR) in order to create a platform for competency enhancements among various healthcare providers, organised its annual international workshop on, ‘Up-skilling of Orthopaedicians for Enhancement of Competencies’ in the campus.

Reportedly, over a hundred medical professionals from six countries participated in the event. The three-day event held eight sessions, where sixty-five senior teaching faculty from seventeen states of India imparted knowledge.

IIHMR organised the workshop for the benefit of orthopedics and organisations to enhance their skills and broaden the prospects.

Dr Usha Manjunath, Director, IIHMR Bangalore, speaking about the purpose of workshop said, ‘It’s a proud day for IIHMR to organise this conference. Even though we are not directly associated with the field of orthopaedics, being a premier healthcare institute, we wanted to provide a platform for various medical stakeholders. Orthopaedics is one of the key verticals in Indian healthcare due to growing number of fatal injuries that occur in accidents. So, we opted to mobilise our resources to contribute to upskill the orthopaedics to deliver quality service.’

Commenting on the need for the workshop Dr Anil Sood, Organising Chairman of the conference said, “The prime idea behind the conference is to build skills among our medical fraternity. With the sprawling number of tools and techniques in the orthopaedic field; this forum aims to aid practitioners to make the right choice of evidence based model for diagnosis. In fact, each session conducted here has key points to offer, which can be incorporated in the medical practice.”

Eminent people from the healthcare industry Dr John Ebnezar Ex-Professor of Orthopaedics, Padma Shri recipient, Dr HPC Khincha, Director of Arthroplasty, Sagar Hospitals, Bangalore, Dr Thomas Chandy,  Director of Arthroplasty, Hosmat Hospitals, Bangalore and Dr Bikamchand, CEO, Santhosh Group of Hospitals, Bangalore to name a few addressed the need to upskill for orthopaedic surgeons to deliver quality service in the workshop.
