ISB Healthcare 4.0 discusses future trends

ISB Healthcare 4.0, the inaugural healthcare conference of ISB Max Institute of Healthcare Management at the Indian School of Business (ISB) was held at its Hyderabad Campus recently.

Dr R S Sharma, former CEO, National Health Authority delivered the inaugural keynote.

Dr Sharma highlighted some of the work done by the central government to improve healthcare in the country such as the establishment of the health and wellness centres, the PM-JAY health insurance scheme for the underserved, and the National Digital Health Mission – all underpinned by technology, and making healthcare more affordable and accessible.

He said, “India has leapfrogged in creating a frugal, inter-operable, and open digital health infrastructure, while creating a strong patient-centric consent system linked to it.”

Prof. Madan Pillutla, Dean, ISB highlighted, “ISB Max Institute of Healthcare Management has established itself as a leading institution and reflects a strong academia-industry collaboration. Its key focus is on innovation and identifying best practices which can be applied to industry (healthcare), which is extremely important for a country like India.”

Prof. Sarang Deo, Executive Director, ISB MIHM and Professor & Area Leader, Operations Management at ISB remarked the conference evolved from the need to do a deep-dive on where the healthcare industry is headed and what are the challenges. He added, “The conference is aptly titled Healthcare 4.0 and emanated on the lines of  industry 4.0. It will discuss technology trends like AI and non-technology trends such as value-based care, the provider-payor landscape and regulations, strategies for healthcare delivery by the small and medium hospitals – all of which are shaping and impacting the healthcare sector.”
