The clinic will have multi-disciplinary team of specialists collaborating to give patients right treatment plan for breast related diseases

Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre launched a new Breast Cancer Clinic to provide quality care, right treatment plan and support to patients with any breast related disease. It is a Multi Disciplinary Cancer Clinic (MDCC) wherein the patient case will be studied by a team of specialist multi disciplinary clinical physicians, basis which they will offer coordinated and comprehensive treatment planning to the patient.

Speaking at the launch, Dr S H Advani, Director, Onco-Sciences, Jaslok Hospital said, “Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting Indian woman. But there is so much fear and myths associated with cancer that the patient is immediately plunged into a series of doctor visits, tests and medication. But it is important to help the patient understand the medical condition, be informed of the array of treatments options, support to cope with the situation and have a coordinated care with the doctors to ensure they receive the best medical care. The breast cancer clinic is an effort to help patients not only receive the requisite quality care and treatment but also help other patrons to come for regular screening or consultations so that early detection is possible.”

The Breast Cancer Clinic will have multi-disciplinary team of specialists collaborating to give the patient the right treatment plan for any breast related disease. When the patient is at the clinic, the clinic history and physical examination is documented with every visit made to individual speciality physician. These recorded data and other requisite tests results are then studied by the specialist team and a treatment course is drawn based on their recommendation. The clinic also has a MDCC volunteer who will act as a support group for these patients.

Actor Kunal Kapoor and Bollywood singer Papon graced the occasion as chief guests. Kapoor also heads Ketto, a crowding funding platform for fund raising of social, charity initiatives. Ketto is also the crowd funding partner with Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre. The launch was followed by a panel discussion on breast cancer and 25 cancer conquerors were also felicitated. The evening ended on a musical note with the doctors showcasing their singing and dance skills.

The launch aptly lauds the sentiment of the month as October is celebrated as-Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Clinic launch also elevates the ‘Pink Note’ endeavour – a community initiative from Jaslok Hospital to raise awareness around breast cancer, a notch higher.
