MoH&FW in MoU with IGNOU

10 short term health courses will be offered, to enhance skill development in health and train 14.4 lakh manpower by 2025

In order to scale up skill development courses in healthcare, an MoU was signed between Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for 10 short-term courses, in New Delhi.

Initially four courses will be launched country wide under this MoU. These are home health aide, geriatric care assistant, phlebotomist and general duty assistant. Followed by remaining six skill-based curriculum as standardised by MoH&FW — Diabetes Educator, Dietetic Aide, EMT-Basic, Dispensing Optician/VT and Medical Equipment Technology Assistant.

Speaking at the occasion, Union Health Minister JP Nadda informed that under the MoU, curriculum for 10 courses has been especially designed for the health sector. It will provide more than 14 lakh trained manpower by 2025. He further said that AB-NHPM will protect more 10.00 crore families and at the same time Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) will deliver comprehensive primary healthcare.

The MoU signing ceremony was presided over by JP Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Human Resource Development and Dharmendra Pradhan,Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Anupriya Patel, Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare were also present at the signing ceremony.
