The latest procedure which has revolutionised the future of knee replacement surgeries is partial knee replacement

Bengaluru-based Sakra World Hospital has introduced computer navigated partial knee replacement surgery. The latest procedure which has revolutionised the future of knee replacement surgeries is partial knee replacement also known as unicondylar (partial) knee replacement surgery using computer navigation.

The technique was recently launched in India in AIIMS, Delhi and only seven surgeries have taken place, five out of which have been performed in AIIMS and two at Sakra World Hospital which is the first in South India.

“Partial knee replacement surgery replaces only the diseased part of the joint, and it is performed through a small incision, and involves less bone and soft tissue dissection. The technique used reduces the blood loss and also the risk of medical complications. The other benefits of the technique include minimal pain post operation and significant reduction of post-operative rehabilitation,” said Dr Chandrashekar P, Senior Consultant & HOD – Orthopaedics, Sakra World Hospital.
