Society of Perioperative Physician Anaesthesiologists (SOPPA) formed in Hyderabad
SOPPA and AIG are jointly organising the 1st Perioperative Medicine Conclave at AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad on March 22 and 23, 2025
Society of Perioperative Physician Anaesthesiologists (SOPPA) an association of Anaesthesiologists, is formed with over 120 Anaesthesiologists in Hyderabad. The newly formed members of the association assembled at Anantha Rehabilitation Centre, Begumpet on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Satyanarayana Nuthula, President, SOPPA said, “An anesthesiologist is a perioperative physician who manages a patient’s care before, during, and after surgery. They are responsible for the patient’s overall medical management throughout the perioperative period.”
He along with office bearers Dr Raja Narsing Rao, Secretary; Dr Kalyani, Treasurer; in the presence of advisors Dr M Chandrashekar, Dr R. Gopinath, Dr P. Surendra and Dr Manimala Rao appealed to The Medical Council of India (MCI) that established and maintained medical education standards in India should consider Perioperative Anaesthesiologist an equally competent physician.
“We hold a medical degree that is equal to any physician and doctor of medicine (MD), and we undergo extensive training. And we are equally responsible for patient care,” said Dr Rao.
SOPPA is newly registered and is formulating guidelines. SOPPA along with AIG, is jointly organising the 1st Perioperative Medicine Conclave at AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad on March 22 and 23, 2025 informed Dr Rao.
