To provide skills training on infection control, wound care and diagnostics

Swedish Health Care Platform and the Maharashtra state government have signed an agreement to collaborate further in skills training on infection control, wound care and diagnostics. This agreement is expected to help further the education and skill development programme for nurses.

Speaking on the occasion, Consul General of Sweden, Fredrika Ornbrant said “Sweden has a close relationship with the State Government of Maharashtra and I’m happy that the Swedish Health Care Platform can support and contribute to ‘Skill India’. Nurses are the central lifeline of any healthcare system and the trainings seek to enrich and empower this very important and key resource at hospitals. If one looks at the healthcare delivery in Sweden, one of the success stories is in the nurse being able to undertake a higher responsibility and become the actual care givers in comparison with doctors. This transition is crucial for the success and scalability of any healthcare system.”

“Maharashtra health department is happy to sign the first agreement for training of nurses. It is indeed a landmark decision for building a long lasting relationship between the healthcare systems of India and Sweden,” said Sujata Saunik, Principal Secretary of the Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra talking about the agreement.
