Recognised by the World Health Organization, VELscope Vx is the world’s most effective device to detect oral abnormalities

Vatsalya Centre for Oral Health has introduced VELscope, an advanced oral cancer detecting device. VELscope Vx, an enhanced oral assessment device is a wireless, hand held scope that uses natural tissue fluorescence to enhance the way dentists visualise oral abnormalities that might not be apparent or even visible to the naked eye. The advantage of the device is the fact that patients can now save themselves of having to go through a series of tests to identify oral cancer. The device can detect the abnormalities at the very early stage and help patients with timely and effective treatment.

Recognised by the World Health Organization, the award-winning VELscope Vx is the world’s most effective device for an enhanced visualization of oral mucosal abnormalities, such as oral cancer. The VELscopeVx emits a harmless, bright blue light which is used to inspect the mouth and tongue. The distinctive blue-spectrum light causes the mouth to shine brightly due to the florescence. Healthy tissues fluoresce are visibly disrupted when the tissue undergoes any oral abnormalities, including cancer and pre- cancer.

Dr Srivats Bharadwaj, Chairman and CEO, Vatsalya Centre for Oral Health says, “Most cases of oral cancer are detected at the later stages, which reduces the survival chances of the patient. With this device, we can detect oral cancer at a very early stage and initiate the right treatment to ensure speedy recovery. The patient can save himself of having to go through a series of test to identify cancer. It is a major milestone in our attempt to bring preventive oral care to the doorstep of people.”
