How remote patient monitoring is shaping the future of healthcare

July 21, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Shortage of healthcare workers including doctors, nurses and other primary care staff has been a pressing issue of concern in India over the last few years. The latest study conducted by the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economy and Policy (CDDEP) has found that India has a shortage of an estimated 600,000 doctors and 2 million nurses.

This is where the cutting edge technology of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) comes as a saviour and may prevent the hospitals from bearing the brunt due to staff shortage. Remote Patient Monitoring is rapidly becoming a way for hospitals and healthcare providers to deliver an enhanced level of quality patient care through the pandemic and beyond. From COVID-19 patient care, to post-surgical follow-up, to ongoing care management for patients with chronic illness, RPM helps doctors and hospitals with clinical-grade technology to provide quality of care safely and at scale.

RPM is cost-effective and does not compromise on patient care. It provides doctors with continuous data on a patient’s vitals and raises an alert when there is deterioration in health, empowering them to make informed care decisions before it gets critical. RPM enables doctors & nurses to optimize and focus on critical patients and set personalized and custom alerts to detect any abnormality in the vital parameters. Doctors and healthcare teams can also remotely monitor hundreds of patients at a time from the centralised patient monitor, a web-dashboard and also from a mobile phone app. Custom alerts can be set for every patient, helping doctors optimise treatment plans, focus on deteriorating patients and provide improved proactive care.

To explore how doctors are already benefitting from RPM, Express Healthcare, in association with Dozee, is organising a panel discussion, titled, ‘How remote patient monitoring is shaping the future of healthcare’
