Cryoviva Life Sciences brings PrepaCyte-CB technology to India to advance the future of stem cell preservation
The technology has demonstrated higher stem cell recovery, improved red blood cell depletion, better post-thaw functionality, and more consistent performance, including in low-volume cord blood collections.
In a significant step towards strengthening India’s regenerative healthcare ecosystem, Cryoviva Life Sciences has introduced PrepaCyte-CB technology in India through an exclusive partnership, aiming to redefine the standards of cord blood stem cell preservation with a stronger focus on quality, recovery, and long-term clinical relevance.
For years, cord blood banking has largely been viewed through the lens of storage. However, as regenerative medicine continues to evolve, the real value of stem cell preservation is increasingly being measured by the quality, functionality, and therapeutic readiness of the cells preserved.
With the introduction of PrepaCyte-CB, Cryoviva aims to address this critical gap by providing Indian families with broader access to a globally benchmarked technology aligned with advanced cord blood processing standards adopted across markets such as the US, Europe and Singapore. The technology has demonstrated higher stem cell recovery, improved red blood cell depletion, better post-thaw functionality, and more consistent performance, including in low-volume cord blood collections.
According to scientific studies and comparative observations associated with the technology, PrepaCyte-CB-based processing has demonstrated approximately 86% Total Nucleated Cell (TNC) recovery, up to 12-fold greater red blood cell depletion, and approximately 1.5x higher clonogenic potential (CFU recovery) post-thaw compared to conventional methods. The technology has also demonstrated faster neutrophil engraftment trends, with recovery observed in approximately 18–21 days compared to 24–28 days with older processing methods.
Speaking on the development, Dr Alok Khullar, Group CEO, RJ Corp Healthcare (Cryoviva Life Sciences & Cocoon Hospitals) said, “The future of stem cell banking cannot be limited to preservation alone; it must focus on preserving stem cells that are purer, stronger, functional, and clinically meaningful for evolving therapeutic applications. By bringing PrepaCyte-CB technology to India, Cryoviva is taking an important step towards raising the benchmark for cord blood processing and enabling Indian families to access globally advanced standards in regenerative healthcare.”
The partnership also strengthens Cryoviva’s positioning as a technology-led and research-oriented stem cell banking company. By integrating PrepaCyte-CB with advanced automation systems such as LMB Supernova, Cryoviva is moving towards more standardised, precise, and clinically relevant processing outcomes.
This development marks a shift in India’s stem cell banking conversation — from simply storing cord blood to preserving high-quality stem cells with stronger therapeutic relevance and clinical utility. For prospective parents, doctors, and the wider healthcare ecosystem, the announcement reflects a more future-ready approach to regenerative medicine, where the emphasis is not only on availability, but also on the usability and clinical quality of what is preserved.
