The management also mentioned that it respects the judicial process and will continue to lend its complete support to the ongoing police investigation

Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital, Powai has recently been in the wrong news due to an alleged kidney racket. The organ harvesting ring was busted by police in July following a tip-off that poor villagers were being paid to sell their kidneys to recipients via a network of agents. The chief executive, medical director and three other doctors at the hospital have been charged with offences related to illegal organ transplants after a kidney trafficking racket was uncovered.

Police uncovered the racket at the hospital after a worker informed them of suspicious documentation for a scheduled operation for which a woman was donating a kidney to her husband.

The management of Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital in a statement said, “We respect the judicial process that is under way and will continue to lend our complete support to the ongoing police investigation. Since this matter has come to light, we have also commissioned a full internal inquiry and engaged external consultants to conduct a forensic investigation into administrative processes around kidney transplant surgeries at the hospital. We are committed to adhering to the highest standards of ethics and compliance in delivering outstanding patient care.”
