QAI launches recognition programme for telemedicine practitioners

Programme is aimed to support practitioners in ensuring that practice is done as per prescribed guidelines, also enables RMP / ASU RMP / RHU in demonstrating commitment to quality, safe patient care, assures community about quality of services provided

QAI launched a recognition programme for telemedicine practitioners on July 3, 2020. Programme was launched by Prof (Dr) MC Misra, Chairman, Centre for Accreditation of Health and Social Care, QAI in the august presence of Maj Gen (Dr ) AK Singh (Retd), President, Telemedicine Society of India, Dr KK Aggarwal, President-Confederation of Medical Associations of Asia and Oceania and Heart Care Foundation of India & Chairman-Technical Committee and members of the Technical Committee-Prof (Dr) K Ganapathy, Director, Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation, Director, Apollo Tele Health Services and Past President- Telemedicine Society of India, Colonel (Dr) Ashvini Goel (Retd), Founder Member & President Elect, Telemedicine Society of India, Dr Gaurav Thukral (COO, Healthcare at Home India & Chair, QAI Technical Committee, Home Healthcare Accreditation Standards, Saurab Kochhar Founder and CEO, Meddo and Dr Suptendra Nath Sarbadhikari, Independent Consultant, Digital Health, Founding Project Director (2013-17) for the Centre for Health Informatics, MOHFW, Government of India, New Delhi and WHO Expert on Digital Health and Dr BK Rana, CEO, QAI.

This programme is meant for Registered Medical Practitioners (RMP) in Modern Medicine and AYUSH covering Ayurveda Siddha Unani Registered Medical Practitioners (ASU RMP), and Registered Homeopathy Practitioner (RHU). This is based on the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines published by Board of Governors in Supersession of MCI, Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH). Programme is aimed to support such practitioners in ensuring that practice is done as per prescribed guidelines and also enables the RMP / ASU RMP / RHU in demonstrating commitment to quality and safe patient care and assures community about the quality of services provided. In addition programme would support rights of patients are respected and protected, demonstrates transparency in practice, demonstrates that RMP functions in ethical manner, provides the confidence and assurance to the practitioner himself / herself about compliance to the prescribed telemedicine practice guidelines.

Programme will further act as a mechanism to ensure ease of storage and retrieval of patient information in a chronological order when needed by RMP himself or Patient or Court of Law or otherwise, a mechanism to safeguard RMP from potential legal liability, and a process to stimulate

continual improvement.
