Recoveries more than five times active cases: health ministry data

10 states/UTs account for 75 per cent of new confirmed cases, total number of tests cross seven crore

As on September 26, with the increase in daily recoveries of COVID-19 cases, the Recovery Rate has sustained its upward trend and is currently is positioned at 82.14 per cent, as per data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Active caseload accounts for 16.28 per cent of the total positive cases, with 24 states/UTs now reporting higher number of new recoveries than new cases.

A total of 85,362 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in the country. 75 per cent of the new confirmed cases are found concentrated in 10 states/UTs.

Maharashtra continues to top the list of both new cases as well as recoveries. It has contributed more than 17,000 new cases followed by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh with more than more than 8,000 and 7,000 cases respectively. Maharashtra leads new recoveries with 19,592.

1,089 deaths have been registered in the past 24 hours, with 10 states/UTs accounting for 83 per cent of COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra reported 416 deaths followed by Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh with 86 and 84 deaths, respectively.

17 states/UTs have cases per million lower than the national average (4,278) while 23 states/UTs are reporting deaths per million lower than the national average (68).

As on date, there are 1823 labs including 1086 government and 737 private labs, with the country’s testing capacities crossing 14 lakhs per day, as per a union health ministry release. 13,41,535 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. The total number of tests has crossed 7 crore on September 25. (7,02,69,975).  The national cumulative Positivity Rate is 8.40 per cent and the Tests Per Million is presently positioned at 50,920.
