SPARSH Group of Hospitals has announced the launch of its exclusive women and child care area in the city of Bengaluru to offer multi-modal care for women and children.

The new 50-bed facility will provide 360-degree treatment across the spectrum of healthcare for women and children. The facility comprises Neonatal Intensive Care Beds (NICU),  Paediatric Intensive Care Beds (PICU) for infants and children, High dependency Unit for pregnant Women (HDU), with ultra-modern technologies. It will also include the department of Foetal Medicine that is equipped to manage foetal anomalies, multiple pregnancies and non-invasive prenatal testing ethically and on par with global standards. This hospital has a level 4 regional NICU to treat critical conditions in neonates like managing babies weighing just 500 gms at birth and premature 25 weekers. At this facility, every complexity in high-risk newborns will be managed by senior consultants round the clock. The hospital will also have a fully equipped baby (neonatology) transport ambulance available 24×7.

SPARSH Hospital for Women and Children will also house a Paediatrics team that offers comprehensive quaternary care capabilities to manage pre and post complex interventions in neurosurgery, cardiovascular thoracic surgery, urology, surgical gastroenterology and plastic surgeries for children. To top up on these unique facilities at the hospital, there will be dedicated special clinics to treat asthma & allergies, cerebral palsy, bone health and osteoporosis, peri and post-menopausal health, and developmental clinics. The hospital will also provide sessions on the Lamaze method (focuses on labour and delivery as a natural event), antenatal yoga, healthy living and good nutrition programs.

Commenting on the launch of the hospital, Dr Sharan Shivaraj Patil, Chairman and Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon, said, “We are delighted to inaugurate this dedicated multispecialty Unit exclusively for women and children who need special and personalised care covering all age groups, from neonatal to geriatric. While today women have more freedom to create, push beyond their boundaries and make an impact, their health care too, needs a new level of service which is all-inclusive, dynamic and non-judgmental. We intend to provide solution-driven care through our diverse talent of experts in a collaborative environment. When faced with any complexity, we have both the infrastructure and the expertise to resolve emergencies at all times.”

Speaking at the initiative, Dr Sudhakar K, Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education, Government of Karnataka said, “SPARSH Hospital for Women & Children is a welcome change to the existing healthcare needs in the city as it caters to meet the complex demands of women and children’s health in Bengaluru. I congratulate the vision of Dr Patil to embark upon yet another milestone offering focused treatment of medical complexities in women and children.”

Dr Prathima Reddy, Director & Lead Obstetrician & Gynaecologist of the hospital, added, “not all medical facilities, especially birthing facilities in the city are equipped to handle complexities.  It is a difficult call for any doctor to shift a patient during an emergency, to a better-equipped facility mid or post-procedure, and this is exactly what we are addressing at this hospital. Our vision is to make this hospital a destination that offers multi-speciality support and create an ecosystem that enables the doctors and staff to come together to address the most complex cases for women of all ages -be it a pre-pubertal girl or a post-menopausal lady.”

The inaugural ceremony of the hospital was graced by the presence of renowned dignitaries that include Shivarathri Desikendra Swamiji, Sutturmath, along with the guests of Honor that include Dr Shamanur Shivashankarappa – MLA, Honorary Secretary, Bapuji Educational Association, Davangere, Justice Dr Shivaraj V Patil – Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, Jagadish Shettar – Former Chief Minister of Karnataka, S S Mallikarjun – Former Minister, Government of Karnataka, N A Harris – MLA, Shanti Nagar, Bangalore, Rizwan Arshad – MLA, Shivajinagar, Bangalore.
