MedRabbits Clinic receives DG Shipping certification for Merchant Navy medical examinations

MedRabbits Clinic, operated by MedRabbits Healthcare, has received certification from the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), authorising it to conduct mandatory pre-employment medical examinations for Merchant Navy officers and crew members.

With the certification, MedRabbits Clinic is authorised to carry out medical fitness assessments for seafarers in accordance with the standards and guidelines prescribed by DG Shipping. The clinic will provide medical evaluation services required before deployment for maritime professionals.

According to the company, as India’s shipping and maritime sector continues to expand, medical fitness assessments remain a requirement for maintaining safety, operational continuity and regulatory compliance. Merchant Navy personnel work in physically demanding and high-risk environments, often spending extended periods at sea with limited access to medical care. Mandatory pre-employment medical examinations assess physical and mental fitness, reduce the risk of onboard medical emergencies and ensure that crew members meet the health standards required for vessel operations.

The company stated that by adding DG Shipping-certified medical screening services, the clinic aims to support shipping companies, crewing agencies and maritime professionals through medical evaluation services that help streamline deployment while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
